Nature's Health Drink (back to top)

In today's fast paced world, many people combat mineral deficiencies by using all types of supplements.  What most do not know is that the minerals in some supplements can be absorbed better by the body than others.

The minerals in products that occur naturally are absorbed more readily by our bodies than the minerals that have been added.  It has also been found that these minerals that occur naturally, when in water, are distributed through the blood stream quicker than any other method.

These two facts teamed with the benefits of staying properly hydrated and the benefits that are discussed below make MONTAQUA Nature's Health Drink.

What minerals are in MONTAQUA?(back to top)

MONTAQUA has a natural balance of important minerals that can help supplement your diet. These are not added but are naturally occurring which makes our water extremely unique.  There are many waters available that might have high amounts of one mineral but low amounts of another important mineral. MONTAQUA truly has a unique balance that helps promote good health.

MINERALS Mg/Liter
Calcium 71.9
Magnesium 23.2

Flouride 1.04

How do these minerals affect our health?(back to top)

Nutritional minerals can have many different effects on our body's health. Some are understood while other effects are still a mystery. Constant discoveries and research are taking place in this field of study and will continue for a long time to come. These are some of the most influential nutrients to your health that are naturally in MONTAQUA:

Calcium 71.9 mg/L

Calcium: We've been taught since we were small children that calcium builds strong bones and teeth. Calcium's extreme importance is reflected in the fact that it is the most abundant mineral in the human body. In fact, 99 percent of the body's supply of calcium goes into the formation and maintenance of bones and teeth.

Adequate calcium in the diet is also necessary to prevent osteoporosis or the symptoms related to it. As we get older, calcium absorption decreases, especially in women. During these years it is vital that the body receives enough calcium.

Calcium is also important in other areas of the human body. It is crucial to muscle contraction and nerve function. It may be important in both preventing and treating high blood pressure. It's also been found to ease the symptoms of PMS, to reduce the risk of heart disease, strokes, colon cancer, and even kidney stones. Calcium is critical to a healthy body.

Magnesium 23.2 mg/L

Magnesium: This mineral helps calcium bond more readily to bones and teeth. It is essential for the transmission of nerve impulses and for muscle relaxation. Magnesium is vital to the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and activates more than 300 body enzymes.

It has also been found among all the factors studied in drinking water that the presence of magnesium can lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases and other related problems. It is advisable to have around 30 mg/Liter in your drinking water in conjunction with calcium.

However you can take in too much magnesium, as is the case with other minerals. Over supplementation can cause nausea and vomiting. You might also experience low blood pressure, sleepiness of almost drugged intensity, and paralysis of the voluntary muscles.

Sodium 19.9 mg/L

Sodium: It seems everybody has a negative image of sodium but what few realize is that without it we would die. Sodium is not table salt. Table salt is sodium chloride and is 39 percent sodium.

Classified as an electrolyte, sodium is integral to the sparking of nerve impulses, the metabolism of proteins and carbohydrates, and the maintenance of the body's acid/alkali balance. Sodium also works with potassium in a yin-yang relationship regulating the fluid balance in our bodies by controlling the flow of liquids in and out of individual cells.

Today's food is packed full of sodium. Despite the importance of sodium, too much of this mineral can negatively affect an individuals blood pressure and overall health. Because of these factors people are forced to put away the saltshaker and scrutinize food labels. Products with zero or low amounts of sodium are important for patients with heart and high blood pressure problems.

The FDA classifies products with 35 mg/Liter or lower as products with very low sodium content and those products with 5 mg/Liter or lower as products with zero sodium.

Potassium 5.10 mg/L

Potassium: As mentioned before potassium works with sodium to create a balance in the body. It is the principal salt inside the body's cells. Potassium is also believed to catalyze carbohydrates and protein metabolism. It provides the electrolyte that every cell needs to function. Athletes have known about the importance of potassium and have long eaten foods rich in this mineral such as bananas and potatoes.

Chloride 10.1mg/L

Chloride: Despite being regulated by the FDA, 250 mg/Liter, small amounts of chloride are an integral part of the production of hydrochloric acid. This is essential because hydrochloric acid is an important component of the digestive fluid in the stomach. Chloride is essential to digestion but only small amounts are needed to realize this benefit.

Strontium 1.28 mg/L

Strontium: The mineral strontium is not classified as essential for the human body. Despite this fact, it has been shown in research to promote strong osteoporosis resistant bones, lessen the risk of dental cavities, and reduce the pain of bone lesions that occasionally develop in association with certain cancers. To find out more about this fascinating mineral read "What exactly is Strontium?"

Flouride 1.04

Fluoride: Fluoride is safe and necessary, but only at appropriate levels. This mineral works in two ways. It systematically strengthens teeth internally under the gums in the jawbone and externally it strengthens tooth enamel on the surface of the teeth. The presence of the appropriate levels of fluoride in the diet of young children could cut the rate of dental cavities in half. What exactly is Strontium?(back to top)

Strontium is a trace element that is found in dietary supplements designed to promote and maintain healthy bones. There is no evidence yet that strontium is an essential mineral but our body contains about 300-350 mg of it, of which 99 percent is in the bones and teeth. It closely resembles calcium chemically and forms strontium bone salts, which may actually be slightly stronger than those of calcium.

Some confusion may arise over strontium and its radioactive relative strontium-90. The strontium in MONTAQUA is not radioactive or harmful in anyway. In ocean water it is the most abundant trace element, reaching values of up to 8 mg/Liter. Natural water sources such as ours contain smaller amounts of the element ranging from 0.021 mg/Liter up to 0.375 mg/Liter. MONTAQUA is unique because of the fact there is 1.28 mg/Liter of strontium present. In therapeutic-style supplements strontium is found between 0.5 mg/Liter to 3 mg/Liter.

Strontium is now under clinical trial for the prevention/treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. The first prolonged administration to osteoporotic women resulted in significant increase in lumbar spine bone mass density. Strontium may not only be supportive in osteoporosis but may also help prevent dental cavities. Research concerning this trace element is at groundbreaking levels. More is being learned about the helpful effects and how the right amounts can be beneficial to a healthy body.  Below are articles that talk about the position of strontium and its known effects on our bodies.

What isn't in MONTAQUA?(back to top)

MONTAQUA is free from the many pollutants and contaminants that plague our drinking water today.  This level of purity is not reached through numerous stages of treatment but occurs naturally.

Bottled water often is purchased for its good taste; however, taste is not an indicator of safe water.  Many harmful substances, such as disease-causing organisms, nitrate, trace heavy metals, pesticides, and some harmful organic materials have no taste.

MONTAQUA is unique because it is missing all of these harmful materials.  Our water analysis tells the full story for us.  To view MONTAQUA's complete water analysis click here.

How does your pH level affect your health?(back to top)

MONTAQUA'S pH 7.7
Alkalinity in water 170 mg/L

When talking about pH levels it is usually in reference to the water in swimming pools or spas.  However, our bodies' pH level could be the single most important aspect of a healthy body.  A pH measurement goes from 1 to 14 with 7 being neutral (neither acidic or alkaline).  Anything below 7 is deemed to be acidic and anything over 7 is alkaline.

The body's blood and fluids must maintain a slightly alkaline pH level between 7.36 and 7.44 in order to function properly.  When you have an alkaline pH your body can build and repair, it is able to maintain the proper mineral levels for good health, and more oxygen is carried around the body by the blood.    If your pH is acidic, your body is being torn down and is vulnerable to diseases.  Imbalances in pH levels can be correlated to health conditions ranging from acne and obesity to all major diseases such as heart disease, arthritis, and cancer.

Our bodies are constantly producing acidic waste products through the process of metabolism.  Metabolism occurs as the body burns fuel or energy to keep us functioning.  The body goes to great lengths to neutralize and detoxify these acids to maintain a healthy pH level.  The more we overload our bodies with acidic wastes, the harder they have to work.  This causes important minerals such as calcium to be lost, it speeds the aging process, and causes the transformation of excess liquid waste to solid waste which is then stored away as surplus fat.

Modern lifestyles create heavy loads of acidic wastes.   Lack of sleep, exercise, chronic stress, foods with high amounts of additives and preservative, acidic beverages, and diets heavy in meat and grain all contribute to these heavy loads.  One can of cola has a pH level of 2.5 and takes 32 glasses of high alkaline water to neutralize.  Chlorinated water supplies often have a pH as low as 4.5.  To put these numbers into context, crabs die at a pH level of 6 and all living marine life will die at a pH of 3.

We need foods and products that are high in alkaline minerals such as calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium to balance our bodies' pH level.  A naturally alkaline water also plays an important role in the detoxification process because the body consists of 70% water and the blood 90% water.   With an alkalinity, the measure of a water's capacity to absorb acids, of 170 mg/L and a pH level of 7.7, MONTAQUA becomes the natural choice to assist you in maintaining a proper pH level.
